Moodboard

initial moodboard

final moodboard

Justification and Description

The initial moodboard that we planned had a scene where rain is required, in the night. However, since the raining season ended in Vietnam, we decided to cut the raining scene and only flimed the scene in the night without rain, as you can see in the final moodboard, we removed pictures of the rain and added pictures where only the night sky is shown.

Additionally, we added pictures of maps and clues of a game which involves using the clues to get 8 pieces of paper in the specific places shown in the map to escape from a mysterious entity, kind of like a treasure hunt, but you will lose the game if you don't find the 8 pieces paper from the clues given in time. As a result, it creates anticipation and a sense of mystery amongst the audience, as well as making them anxious as they don't know if they can find the paper from the clues to escape in time. we will take inspiration from this and make our own - using the map found on the shelf and find the key to escape.

The low-key lighting and sense of urgency is an important part of the atmosphere and look moving forward.

Font choice

There are 5 font choices we would like to use. For your information, our title is "Manipulate"

1:

2:

3:

4:

5:

DECISION:

We decided to go with font number 3, as it is complex, and it is the closest font to represent the content of the opening sequence. It is also unique and different from the other scary fonts, and the different fonts in one sentence raises the levels of anticipation of the audience just by looking at the title even before the opening sequence starts.

Number 1 is okay, but it is overused in multuple films, books, posters and overall doesn't bring the scare factor on the table anymore. Number 2 looks to messy so we didn't choose that. Finally, number 4 and 5 looks indentical, and we initially was going for either of them - specifically number 5. However, they were, like number 1, was overused so we decided not to use it and use a more unique font.
